After winning the award for "Best Beach Destination in Europe" at this year's European gala of the World Travel Awards, the Algarve competes in the category of "Best Beach Destination in the World 2022" at the world ceremony of these that are considered the Oscars of Tourism . In the last two editions, Algarve beaches won this category. This year the region competes side by side with reference destinations such as Tulum, Maldives, Maui, Zanzibar, Philippines and Turks and Caicos Islands.
In this year's European edition, Portugal also won several other titles, including “Best Tourist Destination in Europe”, “Best Destination for Adventure Tourism'' (Azores) and Best City Destination (Porto). Our country is no longer new to these wanderings, and in 2021 it had already won several dozen awards, in the various categories.
Online voting for the world gala ran until October 20th and the winners will be announced on November 11th in Muscat, Oman.
