New Faro Beach Bridge Opened!

Faro Beach now has a new access bridge, inaugurated on January 12, 2025, after almost two decades of planning and construction.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, who highlighted the importance of the work for the region.
The new bridge, 180 meters long and 11 meters wide, includes two lanes and sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists, now allowing the passage of heavy vehicles, including emergency vehicles, which was not possible on the old structure.
The investment totaled around 8.5 million euros, reflecting the complexity of the work and the need to comply with strict environmental and seismic requirements, given its location in the Ria Formosa.
The old bridge, which is around 70 years old, will be deactivated and subsequently demolished, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new phase of accessibility and safety for Praia de Faro.
