After 2 years without celebrations due to the pandemic, this year, the Municipality of Loulé will be in celebration again from February 17th to 21st.

Known as the "Oldest Carnival in Portugal," the Loulé Carnival hits the streets again, with a record number of visitors expected this year.
The theme for the carnival parade along Avenida José da Costa Mealha for 3 days - February 19, 20, and 21, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM - is "Hey Zé... Have you seen the Algarvensis?" There will be 14 floats, 9 entertainment groups, and 3 samba schools, as well as the famous "big heads" and hundreds of performers. As usual, there will be political, social, and sports satire, portraying the issues and personalities that have been in the news in recent months.
Expect a lot of partying and good vibes in this Carnival, which has been around for 117 years. Tickets cost 2 euros, and the proceeds will go to charitable causes.
Quarteira
There's no carnival with a better view than Quarteira's!
The traditional carnival parade will march on February 18, 19, and 21 - Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday - along Avenida Infante Sagres, by the beach, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
This year's theme is "Nature in Celebration," with a focus on sustainability and planet preservation. The parade will feature 9 floats and 5 entertainment groups, and there will be plenty of music to get the visitors into the party mood.
The little ones, students from local schools and IPSS, will have a day dedicated to them, starring in the children's parade on the morning of February 17, Friday.
On February 22, Ash Wednesday, there will be the "Burial of the Carnival" - a well-known tradition in the city. It starts at 9:00 PM on Rua da Palma and ends at Praça do Mar with a fireworks show.
Entry to the Quarteira Carnival is free, with the support of the Loulé City Council.
