Don't kill the AL!

The local accommodation sector mobilized in major cities across the country against the government's approval of new measures included in the "Mais Habitação" (More Housing) project, on the day when the Council of Ministers met in Setúbal.

In Faro, a significant number of property owners and workers gathered in front of the City Hall, holding signs and making their voices heard, emphasizing that local accommodation is essential for tourism in Portugal. They argued that it is a pillar that significantly contributes to the local economy and job creation.

The media was present, and several local politicians attended. Rogério Bacalhau, the mayor of Faro, provided his testimony on the subject, expressing support for the protesters.

The expectation is that the government will not backtrack on the proposed measures, causing indignation and uncertainty about the future for those who have invested in local accommodation.

We attended this protest and spoke with some of the participants.
