Raising awareness for the conscious use of water in the municipality of Loulé

The Water Crisis Won't Be in the Future or in a Distant Place."

This is the campaign launched by the Municipality of Loulé aiming to raise awareness about the current issues of drought and water scarcity.

Climate change is becoming evident, with a clear increase in temperature and a decrease in annual rainfall. At a time when 48% of the country is already facing severe or extreme drought conditions, various actions have been implemented in the municipality of Loulé to mitigate the effects of water scarcity.

"Now and here, in Loulé" - with this message, the hope is to appeal to the population that water conservation has become a daily duty for each of us, and we cannot leave this concern solely for future generations.

Various awareness messages will be shared throughout this month on social media platforms, billboards, in-person events, and other communication channels.

The goal is to alert the local population, as well as all economic agents and the many tourists at this time of the year, to the difficulties that this period of drought poses for the entities responsible for ensuring water supply. The conscious and sustainable use of water is essential, with particular attention to its use in watering green spaces, ornamental fountains, pool filling, or washing.

What will we do when there is no water from the tap?

"Loulé is in drought. Turn off the tap. Every drop counts".
