Vilamoura will receive a new hospital unit

A new healthcare facility by the Lusíadas Saúde Group is set to open in the former Lusotur building in Vilamoura. This project represents an investment of 10 million euros and is expected to open by the end of 2023.

According to the CEO of Lusíadas Saúde, Vasco Antunes Pereira, the opening of this infrastructure in the area is expected to "strengthen the provision of healthcare in the largest and most populous municipality in the Algarve, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region in a lasting and sustainable way." Vilamoura is known for its high tourist demand throughout the year, and the Lusíadas Saúde Group considered the current hospital offering insufficient.

Vítor Aleixo, the Mayor of Loulé, also welcomed this "investment in a high-quality tourist area, adding to others already in operation in the area."

This hospital will be the first in the southern part of the country dedicated exclusively to day surgery and will include a permanent emergency department. It will have "over 20 consultation rooms, treatment and examination rooms, operating rooms, and a small surgery unit, a Gastroenterology unit, and an Imaging area equipped with specialized and state-of-the-art technological equipment, such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (CT scan), X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, among others."

Construction work on the building will start soon, and it is expected that part of the hospital, including emergency services, diagnostics, and outpatient consultations, will open by July 2023. The hospital is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.

This investment in Vilamoura is expected to have a significantly positive impact, as it is becoming an increasingly popular destination for both national and international tourists. For Vilamoura World's CEO, João Brion Sanches, it is an "important step in the strategy we have defined since the beginning of our mandate, aiming to make Vilamoura the best destination in the Algarve to live, vacation, and invest."
